Tawana fell in love with teaching and coaching as a Chiropractic student and training assistant in the cadaver lab and has been passionate about it ever since. After graduating chiropractic school, she began moonlighting as an adjunct college instructor teaching Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology, Healthcare Law and Ethics, and Medical Billing and Coding. Business need and determination led to self-instruction and obtaining multiple billing and coding credentials.
Along the way, Dr. Tawana continued to coach and mentor students with mentors expressing their inability and apprehensiveness to pass certification exams. Dr. Tawana’s Medical Billing and Coding training was established to bridge the gap between learning billing and coding and successful exam preparation.  The goal of every session is to provide foundation, preparation, strategy, knowledge and confidence to take and pass certification exams. 
After passing exams, Dr. Tawana continues to endeavor to provide mentorship to students by offering sessions on job searches, resume writing, interviewing, continuing education, and apprenticeship opportunities.  

Michael is a US Army Military Intelligence Veteran as a Russian Linguist. He spent 23 years as a Finance Manager. In January 2019, Michael became AAPC CPC Certified and has worked in Outpatient Coding with Specialties in Ophthalmology, Neurology, Interventional Radiology and Infusions for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health while training new coders to become proficient in specific specialty areas. He has a passion to share his knowledge with others and to create opportunities for them in the vast and wonderfully exciting world of coding.

I am currently a Coding Education Trainer for over 5 years. Before this, I worked as a Medical Coder, coding Anatomic Pathology, and prior to being promoted to a Coding Compliance Auditor position. I have served as Project Administrator on several large projects and continue to pursue knowledge share through continuous education and training endeavors. I have over 10 years of coding experience and hold the following certifications through AAPC: CPC, CRC, and CPC-I.

Kenneth Howell has over 20 years in providing top quality service in Revenue Cycle Management. He began his career as a third party claims processor, which became the foundation to an enlightening journey to his ultimate home in training and coding compliance. Kenneth has been in the medical coding field for over 10 years, 6 of which he served in coding compliance, specializing in ICD coding. He has been considered as a subject matter expert for all things coding compliance and ICD 10 training.  His other responsibilities have ranged from performing internal/external assessment of ICD-9 & ICD-10 CM/CPT codes as related to denial management/edit resolution, providing medical record documentation review for appropriate code abstraction, reviewing and interpreting private party insurance coverage/reimbursement policies including CMS, and communicating appeals based on compliance management.
Kenneth maintains a medical coding position, ensuring up to date experience in current coding practices within a multi-specialty group. This hands-on experience has provided Kenneth with the confidence and expertise that only real life application of knowledge gained can provide.
Kenneth’s diverse level of experience allows him to see the big picture, effectively communicate with and elevate understanding in others.  He has shown an ability to train with a strong focus on quality assurance and firm grasp of diagnosis coding risk analysis.
As a trainer, he formulates a production and quality standard that exhibits a high level of confidence and minimizes coding compliance risk. Kenneth has been established as a successful trainer of various skill level medical coders on specific systems, languages and lines of business associated with a multitude of specialties. He is skilled at analyzing trends/experience level in order to establish modified training for diverse coding staff.
